Titanfall won’t have the typical single-player campaign, as told by Respawn’s Vince Zampella.
“We make these single-player missions that take up all the focus of the studio, that take a huge team six months to make and players run through it in 8 minutes,” Zampella said. “And how many people finish the single-player game? It’s a small percentage. It’s like, everyone plays through the first level, but 5 percent of people finish the game.”
Vince Zampella explains that most people spend a large amount of their time in the multiplayer experience. With that being said, it made more sense to focus they’re resources in that area. There will be some narrative in the game, but all in the multiplayer mode. Since Respawn is a “small startup studio” with just 60+ developers, their reasons make a lot of sense.
As for myself, I’m huge into the single-player campaigns. It’s always the first thing I go for and most always the reason I purchase any game. I’m sure I’m not alone. Seeing Titanfall at E3 2013, you couldn’t help but be blown away, so it’s no surprise why IGN named it the “Best of E3 2013” winner. It’s easy to see why it’s a highly anticipated game and I know I can’t wait!
Titanfall is scheduled to release on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on March 11, 2014.
