Man Robbed Bank To Pay For His Daughters Chemotherapy Treatments (VIDEO)

Despite the passage of the Affordable Care Act, our medical needs are still at the mercy of for-profit insurance companies and for-profit medical providers. One man was so desperate that he allegedly robbed a bank in order to keep his one-year-old daughter alive.

23-year-old Brian Randolph is being charged with armed robbery and bank robbery, and is currently sitting in jail with a $500,000 bond. He is accused of robbing the Vibe Credit Union in South Lyon, Michigan on August 12.

Randolph entered the building and passed a note demanding money, police said. While the note indicated he had a shotgun hidden in his clothes, he never revealed the firearm and police told ABC News that he said he did not actually bring a gun with him.

According to Randolph, he robbed the bank because his daughter Brailynn has retinoblastoma, which is a cancer that forms in the eye. His insurance had stopped paying.

Heres the video:

There is a GoFundMe page set up for Brailynn. The insurance company cancelled because the family supposedly neglected to renew the policy, although they are denying it.

The Affordable Care Act has cracked down on insurance companies canceling policies, but it still happens. Hopefully, Brailynns parents have a paper trail that proves they paid the policy.

Its kind of hard to believe they would just neglect to renew the policy when it is so vitally important to their daughters treatment. Its time for a national health care plan that includes everyone in America so people dont have to lose their loved ones when insurance runs out. Insurance companies still hold the power to manage their customers health care and thats wrong. Medical decisions should be made by doctors.
